First Finished Quilt of 2011

5 Feb

Last night I watched movies and Dexter while I hand stitched the binding on my first finished quilt of 2011! After a quick wash this morning it was ready to give away. Now that the quilt is happily with its new owner I thought I’d share some photos here.

This quilt is Elizabeth Hartman’s Birthday Cake pattern. The little strips bisecting every block were tedious and at one point my husband even came downstairs and helped me square up blocks. I love the way it looks finished though, so I might tackle it again some day.

This is also the first quilt that features my new label! It’s simple and quite small but I knew I wanted to start putting some form of personalization on my quilts. This first attempt got a little shifty so I think I might need to sew them in half first next time, but here it is:

Love this quilt! The colors and the patterned fabrics are gorgeous. I also really like your labels. I need to get something like this so I can personalize my quilts.
