For a Special Baby Boy

13 Mar

Recently our very good friends welcomed their second baby. I actually finished his quilt by his due date! Too bad he decided to come 9 days early. Thankfully I don’t think he noticed that he didn’t have a quilt on his Birthday.

Baby Vincent (10 of 7)

My friend and I picked out the fabric together and she decided on the pattern. This is such a fun quilt to make from Elizabeth Hartman of Oh, Fransson!, it comes together pretty quickly and is infinitely adaptable (the twin sized top I just finished is the same pattern).

I added two rows to the original pattern to make the top slightly larger.

The back:

These photos were taken at night. I could not wait to get the finished quilt to my friends and literally finished the binding, threw it in the wash and went right over to their house.

I love, love, love the binding on this one!

I got my label on straighter this time too, I sewed it together first, then sewed it onto the quilt is a 1/8 inch seam allowance, and then machine sewed the binding over it with a 1/4 inch allowance.

It is still a little crooked, but really after washing all the edges distort a little.

I really, really love this quilt. The colours are soft and perfect for a little boy. I bought some of the same fabrics in flannel from FabricWorm so I might be making some quick blankets and other projects with it soon.
