Block-A-Palooza #14 and #15

16 Mar

A valuable lesson was learned tonight.

But first block #14, I can’t believe it’s almost the last block (Block 16 comes out tomorrow!). #14 is from Ryan at I’m Just a Guy Who Quilts. I didn’t have exactly the same fabrics left but managed to make it look pretty similar.

All cut out:

March 16 2011 (1 of 4)

And all finished:

March 16 2011 (2 of 4)

I was on a roll so decided to tackle #15 from Lovely Little Handmades, so that I would be ready for #16 tomorrow when it comes out.

It all started well:

March 16 2011 (3 of 4)

And as I was admiring my seams and how everything lined up so perfectly I noticed a problem:

Cute right? Except it’s supposed to look like this (photo from designer website):

It’s called double pinwheel for a reason. I looked at it for about 5 minutes and could not figure out how I messed it up, or how many (or which) seams I will have to take out so I decided to leave it until tomorrow.

I’m contemplating leaving it as is but I’m still undecided. I really, really need to go to sleep.

I’d be inclined to leave it…it’s still nice looking & makes the quilt your very own! And of course you want to work on block #16 tomorrow, right? 🙂

Thanks Debbie and Wendy, I think I might leave it. I looked at it again and I think taking off the top and bottom row and swapping them fixes it but the colours of the outer pinwheel will be backwards from the original. I have no idea how it got so far off! I was even careful and kept things in order. Haha.

Your version is cut. I’d leave it! (I’d probably try to figure out where I went wrong first though.)

      ‘cut’ = I mean cute!
